PaperDolls Film Series Part Two: Ass Kicking Night

PaperDolls Ass Kicking Night: D.E.B.S./Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Wednesday, July 16
PaperDolls Headquarters (1610 Nickerson)
$5 suggested donation, 9 p.m.
[info]
PaperDolls Magazine is a soon-to-be-launched online publication looking to shove aside teenage stereotypes while being a little sassy. To raise awareness and cash for this commendable project, they’re staging a four-part, girl-themed film series featuring slumber party classics like Shag, Mean Girls and Heathers.

A couple weeks ago we told you about Frienemy Night, the first installment in the PaperDolls series. Watching movies about girls we love to hate was fun times, but Wednesday’s double feature is about to take things up a notch. The prep school rebels of D.E.B.S. and Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself will be the cinematically honored guests this week, and just in case you need it spelled out for you, yes they will be kicking ass.

D.E.B.S. is first up, so be there by nine if you’re up for cheering on Amy, Max, Janet and Dominique as they balance schoolwork with the job of capturing the ultimate bad girl, Lucy Diamond. Next to demonstrate her lethal tendencies is Kristy Swanson as Buffy. She’s no Sarah Michelle Gellar, but this cheerleader chick definitely manages to kick some evil undead ass by the time it’s all said and done. And don’t forget about this movie’s most empowering achievement – Buffy’s sidekick is played by the always-kinda-wimpy Luke Perry.

Like last time, the movies will be shown outside of PaperDolls Headquarters, and popcorn and hot dogs will be for sale. Kicking back to watch a couple of campy flicks in the name of girl power is more than worth the suggested donation of five bucks, so bring some friends and let the vicarious karate kicks commence.
