Austin's Green 4th of July Celebration!

What is the greenest way to celebrate the 4th of July? Well, the 2nd Annual Green 4th of July Celebration at the Austin Farmers Market, of course! Technically on Saturday, July 5th, this year's event features green gurus, interactive discussions, local food, live music, sustainable kid's activities and entertainment.

Round table discussions will include some of Austin's top green experts and representatives from Austin Green Art and Austin Eco Network discussing a range of topics including "Citizen Foodie: Solving the Omnivore's Dilemma" and "The Green Pursuit of Happiness Game." You definitely will not want to miss the Farmer Olympics and witness old fashioned fun, as regulars of the Austin Farmers Market compete in such events as cooler hurdles, timed pea shelling, and melon bowling (using squash for pins). There will be plenty of green activities for the kiddos including special performances and green art projects.

So head on out to Republic Square on Saturday, July 5 from 9am - 1pm and meet local experts, sit in on ground-breaking conversations, and pick up lots of local, green, patriotic resources to keep your holiday sustainable!
