The music half of the bill is dominated by acts which, in some capacity or another, can be considered "punk," although that word takes on many shapes. Headlining is Matt & Kim, a Brooklyn pop outfit who last played our fine town, and to positive reviews, during SXSW. Their bouncy electro-influenced music is delightfully bratty, and the adorable duo have been picking up fans over the course of what has been a solid year for them. Also doing some damage on the musical front will be The Deathset, a punktronic group with buried vocals, liberal sampling, and propulsive percussion, and Team Robespierre, a ramshackle New York quintet. And, as if those three weren't enough, the energy will be flowing early with Brother Reade, a promising Los Angeles/Carolina hiphopper, and Plastic Little, a quartet of enthusiastic rappers from Philly.
Spoken word by Keith Morris (of Circle Jerks and Black Flag fame) should provide an interesting juxtaposition to all that music; Morris is one of the tour's curators, and this will be his first ever spoken word performance. Interposed with the music and the spoken word will be three talented (if strange) stand-up comedians: Hannibal Buress, Nick Flanagan, and Josh Fadem, all of whom have fine reputations for stirring up the laughs.
Altogether, it's a whole hell of a lot of stuff to watch and hear for a ticket whose price is practically painless. It should be interesting to see how it all fits together, but as this is the eleventh show on the tour, everything should be nice and smooth, and good.

Turned out the door price was $10 instead of the $8 advertised here. Also, nobody ever explained that the comedy would take place on the inside stage. I sat outside waiting for the comedy that never happened while fake bands performed on the outdoor stage. I say 'fake' because they just sang along to CD's they played over the PA. Totally missed the comedy, which is what I was there for.
My experience this evening kinda supports previous assertions that the Mohawk sucks.
