Take the APD Driving Safety Survey

The Austin Police Department is conducting a web survey about driving safety and driving behavior. With just a few clicks you can agree or disagree with questions like "There are a lot of bad drivers on the road." "Bad" seems redundant, but there are certainly a lot of drivers on the road, so umm ... "Strongly Agree" seems right.

The second part of the survey asks you to rate the severity of various infractions. This may have some connection to the recent jaywalking crackdown and resulting backlash. Unfortunately, "Cars flipping onto sidewalks" wasn't an option. Note to APD: Cars flipping onto sidewalks is Very Serious.

What about "boats in the roadway"? Was that an option? I passed a large boat in the right lane of IH35 North/Onion Creek last evening facing the wrong direction. There was no trailer -- just a $75,000 boat chillin' on the interstate. I would rate it as an 'Average' danger on IH35 though.

That boat left some good skid marks on 35. Other hazards on 35 yesterday included clothes and personal items strewn about the highway from San Marcos to the boat stopping place.
