Museum Invites Kids to 'Discover Engineering'

The Austin Children's Museum is inviting kids to let loose their inner engineer this Sunday.

The free Discover Engineering event is a series of displays and experiments, structured to show how to solve real-world problems through design and engineering. Whether it's generating electricity with your own muscle power or building a table from newspaper, kids will have the opportunity to see how creativity and imagination go hand-in-hand with science and math skills.

Local engineers will be on hand to guide kids through the experiments, show their designs, and answer questions about engineering.

Children can participate in hands-on design challenges from the PBS TV show Design Squad and learn amazing ways to find mathematical measurements using their body with the character Digit from the PBS TV show Cyberchase.

The event runs from 1-5 pm Sunday at the Austin Children's Museum at 201 Colorado St.
