See the Hotel Room of the Future

With a shape-conforming bed, internet-enabled pillow and massaging bathtub, the hotel room of the future is on display this week at the Austin Convention Center.

HITEC, an annual lodging and hospitality conference for financial and technology professionals, features emerging and prototype amenities that await travelers.

At the center is Guestroom 2010, a hotel room prototype with more than 60 cutting-edge features, from a remote that controls everything in the room to an alarm clock that responds to voice commands.

Among the most promising displays are a bed with 10,000 moving parts (and no mattress), that conforms to your body as you lay on the bed. There's also the pillow outfitted with a microphone, speakers and wireless capability, allowing you to answer calls without lifting your head. And then there's the tub with adjustable lights, music, and vibrations that can be tuned to your preference.

The conference runs through Thursday.

They also need a toilet in the bed so you can take a crap without getting up.

That's exactly what our lazy obese society needs - one more thing to help you stay in bed all day. The fat clowns working from home are gonna love this one, if only they could get the pizza delivery boy to come in through the bedroom window.

Do they know that 2010 is a year and a half away so they better start putting this crap in the Super 8s and Days Inns today?
