Welcome to the Neighborhood: Books and Blacklights at Domy Opening

Domy Books, an independent bookseller stocked with special editions, hard-to-find periodicals and various media-related goodies, will celebrate the grand opening of its Austin store on Saturday.

The original Domy Books has been adding flavor to the Houston book/art scene for the past two years, and this sister establishment aims to do the same for our town.

The self-described bookstore has attracted attention for its genre-blurring open mindedness as well as its distinctive inventory. It’s no surprise, then, that this weekend’s festivities will be enhanced by visual art. In honor of the opening, Domy’s space will feature selections from the Picturebox Blacklight Series, a playful and subversive exhibit inspired by 1970’s blacklight posters.

Looking beyond Saturday’s shindig, the creative forces behind Domy Books assure as that there’s further coolness to come in the form of film showings, book signings and more. Come on out to the grand opening and don’t take the visuals too literally; the lights may be black, but Domy’s future is bright.
