Celebrate the heat of summer while surrounded by cool art at the Blanton's monthly B Scene party. The fitting theme for tonight's festivities is "Summer Celebration" and the museum invites its visitors to socialize and peruse art (and sip cocktails) in their many air-conditioned galleries.

Two exhibitions, The Language of Prints and Atelier 2008, along with the museum's permanent collections, will provide the night's visual entertainment.

The Language of Prints offers a historical and technical overview of printmaking from the 1400's through modern day. Atelier 2008, which closes on Sunday, is a show of selections from UT Austin's Department of Art and Art History faculty. This triennial mixed-media show captures the diversity and talent of the artists and teachers coming out of UT.

Austin's pedal steel guitar-strummin' quartet, The Summer Wardrobe, will play a live set at 9:30pm. DJ Faith Gay will be spinning tunes in the atrium throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event are available online or at the museum and cost $5 for Blanton members and $10 for everyone else. Admission includes appetizers from Austin Catering, guided gallery tours, $1 scoops of Amy's Ice Cream, and a cash bar with beer, wine, and refreshing Blantinis.
