Austinist Indieroke Wrap-up!

Austinist Indieroke took over The Mohawk’s Green Room this past Sunday for a night of thrills, frills, and plenty of awesome stills (courtesy of Nash Cook). We would like to thank everyone who came down and made this an incredible party, especially the early birds -- we had six songs in queue before we even had a bartender up there! Of course, very special thank you’s go out to The Mohawk for putting up with our shenanigans, and our rock star friends from Zykos, White Denim, The Boxing Lesson, and Belaire, all of whom turned in some magnificent renditions. As promised, here is the inaugural list of winners in each category --

Best Early Bird Performance -- Corey Baines with “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar.
Best Female Performance -- Caitlin Leach with “It’s Oh So Quiet” by Björk.
Best Male Performance -- Erik Brandon with “Hello” by Lionel Richie.
Best Duo or Group Performance -- Natasha Taylor, Claire Ginocchio, and Stephanie Beasley with “Regulate” by Warren G and Nate Dogg.

Check out all the pictures! The slideshow captures the magical evening impeccably and leads off with some of the winners. (Apologies to the winners we did not get a chance to photograph -- we are still a work in progress!) Stay tuned for information on our next event.

this looks like the perfect opportunity to have my picture taken while my mouth is slightly or all the way open... i am sad i missed it!

You are all precious little baby birds and what sweet songs you sing, warming my itty bitty heart.

fyi: shrieking into the mic at 1am, even for karaoke, even if you are in a Promising Local Band, is not more credible than if any other drunken asshat did the same, and no more entertaining. In fact, it was far less entertaining than the winners and many other of the non-shrieking folks who are not in Promising Local Bands.

that is all.

e!
