Stubbs (801 Red River)
$8-10, 9pm

Stubb's indoors will host your fill of contemplative instrumental tunes this evening, so come out tonight to fulfill your recommended dose of dreamy lap-pop, spacey guitar work and thick reverb with a trio of performances from upcoming acts.
Also including the nearly un-seachable Denton band Mom, the two featured bands on the bill are local favorites This Will Destroy You and Lymbyc System, a Mush recording artist finishing up their spring tour with this performance in Austin and one in Houston.
While the comparison may be overused, it's apt: This Will Destroy You plot similar highs and lows as the math-y, hometown heroes in Explosions in the Sky, building their songs with the same gentle pull and release of expressive melodies and noise. Lymbyc System, composed of brothers Michael and Jared Bell, lean on tinkling electronics and atmospheric drum loops but still manage an organic, open-ended delivery. Their latest album Love Your Abuser was given the remix treatment by Daedelus, The Album Leaf, and hey - This Will Destroy You. It's odd fare for Stubb's inside, but that in no way is a bad thing.
