Here at Austinist, we're always looking for compelling (read: freaky-deaky) events to attend. In addition, one of our raison d'etres is making sure that, you, our readers get a heads-up so you can meet us out. It makes our job easier that this city possesses a bountiful selection of sound artists and their intangible wares, so we've found a humdinger for you tomorrow night. Toneburst 7, brought to us by Rick Reed and The Church of the Friendly Ghost, a regularly occurring presentation of both local and not-so-local experimental music, is happening at Salvage Vanguard Theater. Sure, Austin is a fine town for music, everyone knows that; but when was the last time you really pushed the boundaries of the types of shows you attend? That's right. Shame on you. Don't feel too bad, we're guilty of it too. It's never too late, though, to make plans to catch something spontaneous and creatively satisfying. Toneburst is just such an event. Featuring a slew of great performers such as Brent Fariss / Nathan Wood, Nought for 3, James Eck Rippie, Bright Duplex, Josh Ronsen/ Jacob Green, Dromez, Rick Reed, and Steve Marsh, the evening will feature pieces both prepared and improvised complimented by video and slide presentations during the show. If you're worrying about getting stuck checking your watch, don't: each artist's set is short and focused, so you're sure to find something that turns you on and gets you thinking. Our recommendation? You'd better bring some Brawny, because your mind might just get blown. Ew.
