This weekend and early next week there are several chances to catch new works by local playwrights Robert Sanchez, Erica Saleh, Soo–Jin Lee, and Mike Agresta.

The first three are part of UT New Theatre, a full staging of works by third-year MFA. playwrights. Three one-act plays comprise this annual production: Sanchez's The Chev—No one pays a higher price for the culture of convenience than the clerk behind the counter, but who will pay the price when he can't take it anymore?; Saleh's Split.—A woman's grasp on reality is upset when she realizes that her lover may not be who he says he is; and Lee's Why Koreans Don't Hug—A Korean immigrant family, through an unexpected action from their Reverend, is forced to deal with the elephant in their room.

Agresta, a Michener Center degree candidate, is one of the forces behind the site-specific works Music for Houses and The Moveable Feast. His new work The Proximitator is described: "High above the city, three rooms look out on each other and on a skyline of glass and concrete. Characters stare out through their windows or peer into digital screens in search of one another. Are they coming closer together, or falling further apart?" The production is a staged reading with a feedback session immediately following.
