Making waves outside is perhaps the most highly anticipated aspect of the concert: the much-awaited return of Belaire to the stage. The local heroes, known for an energetic live show and songs so catchy you can't not press replay, have been on hiatus while they restructured their lineup. But it looks to be well worth the wait, as early word suggests that the reinvigorated group is coming back better than ever. Also out in nature are two of Austin's best, The Black and White Years and Yellow Fever, a couple of bands who have been establishing themselves through exceptionally steady and solid shows and tunes that works just as well on the stereo as they do on the patio.
Working it Indoors is thoroughly enjoyable headliner Elf Power, the primo roadshow band on the bill. They hail from Athens, Georgia and have been constructing tight little pop songs for quite a while now, and are always an easy guarantee for a good performance complete with danceability. Also inside are Masonic, whose lovely lady-led tunes have that old-style homeyness that would fit nicely in a Quentin Tarantino flick, and Loxsly, a Spoon-ish pop outfit who have a knack for fantastic song titles.
Put it all together and you've got two stages and six bands--literally, there's something here for everyone. There's even word that local spinner TJ Lazerphone will be making some noise between acts. That pretty much means the music never stops!
