Arts & Drafts Celebrates First Anniversary
Formerly home to the occasional stabbing or shooting, Rio Rita Cafe y Cantina has since been taken over by a gang with sharp sewing needles and hot glue guns.
Weekly craft meetup group Arts & and Drafts will celebrate its one year anniversary today, April 17, at the eastside haunt. The event was started by owners Randall and Donya Stockton, who re-opened the bar in March 2007, to invite crafters to visit the art-friendly bar and chat while they work.
Arts & Drafts encourages people to bring food; drinks will be for sale at the bar, and there will be prizes handed out. Crafting starts at 6:30.
