Austinist Show Alert: 2008 Far West Texas Radio Round-Up in Marfa this Friday & Saturday

Marfa, Texas, over 400 miles from Austin and an extremely intriguing city to say the least, is home to plenty of art, special concerts, and of course, those lights. This weekend, the quality concerts continue as Marfa Public Radio (KRTS 93.5 FM) rounds off its Spring Membership Pledge Drive with the 2008 Far West Texas Radio Round-Up featuring music from a number of excellent acts.

On Friday the 11th, make your way to the Hotel Paisano Ballroom and enjoy alt-country pop nuggets courtesy of Will Johnson (of Centro-matic) and Li’l Cap’n Travis. Things only get better come Saturday when Ballroom Marfa’s Liberty Hall hosts a stellar line-up -- Austin mainstays Zookeeper and Grand Champeen, along with Golden Boots, Rebecca Gates, and Ross Cashiola make for a versatile bill that should definitely render your long drive to Marfa worthwhile. The former event is priced at $10 while $15 will get you into the latter gig. As for the gas required by your vehicle to transport you to Marfa -- that might cost a tad bit more.
