Tonight, the Austin Film Society and the University of Texas Documentary Center will screen parts 5 & 6 of Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman--an epic, globe-trotting docudrama about the limits of feminine freedom and the search for modern female identity.

Award-winning filmmaker Jennifer Fox spent four years documenting her own life in an attempt to better understand the female condition. As she juggles relationships with two men (one of whom is married), she struggles to come to grips with the definition of womanhood, and the limits of morality. In her quest for knowledge she travels to more then seventeen countries and interviews countless women about their own lives, passing the camera around to whoever is willing to ask questions. The result is a complex yet intimate mini-series that sometimes seems more like a real-life soap opera than it does a documentary.

If you missed the first four parts, don't fret--there'll be a quick recap before each episode to bring you up to speed. And if you're still not convinced, watch the trailer.

Oh yeah, and filmmaker Jennifer Fox will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening!

I saw parts 1 & 2 at UT on Monday night, and the film is well worth seeing. Ms. Fox breaks down the traditional documentary format by "passing the camera" among her friends, and trying to eliminate the filmmaker/subject roles.

I got free passes for tonight's performance from UT RTF (along with a couple dozen other folks) so be advised, the theater will be packed well before 7PM
