Rising Down with the Roots at 40 Acres This Saturday

The headliner of The 40 Acres Fest has oft been regarded as one of Austin's best kept secret shows. Thrown by the student-run Music & Entertainment Committee and funded in part by The University Co-Op, year after year the south steps of the UT Tower provide an amazing venue for acts that in the past have included Common, Little Richard, Ludacris and Cee Lo. Keeping up with their trend of pleasant surprises, The 2008 40AF will be headlined by Philadelphia hip-hop legends The Roots. Local Austin live sensation The Octopus Project will open the show.

Touted as the largest student-run event in the nation, this is the 16th Annual 40 Acres Fest. Each year provides over 100 student organizations an outlet to voice their cause through activities, food, culture and games happening all day long. Also during the day, local acts Benny vs. The Beast, The Pajamas, The Band of Heathens, The Earthtone Players, The Banner Year and Jupiter-4 will all be performing throughout the day leading up to the headliners. The Octopus Project are scheduled to perform at 7:00 pm, with The Roots following at 8:30 pm.
