Austinist Preview: Utter Reading Series
This is not a hoax. The Utter Reading Series, a monthly event featuring local and emerging writers, usually takes place on the first Tuesday of the month. It's just a coincidence that this month, it falls on April Fool's Day. This month's readers are not to be missed-- poet Miriam Bird Greenberg and fiction writer Matthew D. Stuart. Both are young, gifted, and Austinites.
Matthew D. Stuart grew up in Santee, CA and currently lives in Austin. His most recent publication was "A Baby Is A Baby Is A Baby" in Boston Review. He is working on a novel. He's also a painter. Check out his work at www.matthewdstuart.com.
Miriam Bird Greenberg is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Texas Michener Center for Writers, but in the past she taught ESL in Japan, traveled by train through southern Siberia, and deckhanded in a small boat sailing from Miami to the Panama Canal. She's been published in Smartish Pace, DIAGRAM, and a variety of other small and/or now-defunct literary journals.
Check out one of Stuart's stories here. Or if you fancy poetry, here's one of Greenberg's.
