Austinist Indieroke is back! This Wednesday @ The Mohawk
If you failed on all those accounts, fear not because our Indieroke night returns on Wednesday the 26th at The Mohawk. Release the experience that was SXSW 2008 or forget about the madness that the festival wrought via a scintillating performance of “Unsung” (Helmet), an affecting version of “Black” (Okkervil River), or a scorching rendition of “Cannonball” (The Breeders.) Or just show up with an open mind to find your friends performing “Faith” by George Michael because the Beyonce choices we offered were limited. Based on past Austinist Indieroke nights, we have realized that we can only try to put the indie in Indieroke; Journey and Fleetwood Mac songs continue to rule the roost although tracks by The Arcade Fire and The Flaming Lips do their best to keep our event title relevant.
So forget about genres, tags, and the like. We don’t care if you’re coming to perform “Pictures Of You” by The Cure or “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder. You’re invited whether you want to hear some classy Anglophile sing “That’s Entertainment” by The Jam or a bunch of drunks stumble through “The Power Of Love” by Huey Lewis & The News. We just want you here for another exhilarating night of fun and frolic.
After a few drinks, almost anything is possible.
