Longhorns Step Onto the Dance Floor

Both the Texas men's and women's teams are set to begin play in basketball's big dance: the NCAA tournament. The Longhorn men are the No. 2 seed in the South Region, and they take the floor against Austin Peay at 2 pm today at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Texas' women's team is the No. 8 seed in the Greensboro Regional and opens against Minnesota at 8:30 pm Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn.

On the men's side, the Longhorns look to build on one of their best seasons in school history. Texas enters the tournament with 28 wins (28-6) and this year marks the Longhorns' 10th straight appearance in the NCAA field. This will be the first meeting between Texas and Austin Peay (24-10). The game will be televised on CBS and heard on local radio on KVET (FM 98.1/1300 AM).

On the women's side, the Longhorns (21-12) are making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2005. First-year coach Gail Goestenkors and All-Big 12 guard Brittainey Raven will try to slow down the ninth-seeded Golden Gophers, who come into the tournament with a 20-11 record. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and KVET 1300 AM.
