MESS WITH TEXAS 2 RULED! even with a platinum badge i couldn't get into any "official" showcases, so this FREE event with an awesome line-up was the highlight of my SXSW. thank you transmission entertainment for your vision and punk rock spirit.

Oh, and I should have mentioned, I saw White Denim for the first time at the Little Radio/Noisepop party on Wednesday and they do indeed put on a fine show. Austin's Octopus Project was also outstanding at the same event.

I agree that the Raveonettes were fantastic this year; I caught them at Red Eyed Fly and at Emo's main stage the day before, and both times they were excellent. A Place to Bury Strangers were best at Emo's inside stage, where the place was entirely pitch black(!) and the volume was just insane. Also, I missed Yo La Tengo at the Parish (by about 50 people waiting in line in the rain), but I did see them on Friday outside the French Legation Museum, where they did a gorgeous set of mostly acoustic songs.
