"There are hundreds of people supporting Obama who don't have a clue why, so they can't vote for anybody else who they don't know anything about," Mr. Mauro said.

"There are thousands of people supporting Clinton who don't have a clue why, think they're voting for her husband to return the the White House, or are just hateful little people who don't support Obama because he's a Muslim and his father is Saddam Hussein," LoudMouth said.

Just because they voted for Obama and didn't vote in the other races doesn't mean that they don't know a thing about him. If you vote for other people because one is named Sam Houston and another one isn't named Fidel and you've seen that other name on TV it doesn't mean you're informed about who could best represent you. If you don't vote in those races it doesn't mean you're ignorant. It doesn't mean you withheld your vote because you were allowing other people who knew more about those races make the decisions for you. There are a whole lot of reasons people didn't vote down the ballot last week and assuming you know who voted for whom and why they did or did not vote is irresponsible journalism. Shame on the Dallas Morning News.

In fact, does this jump in logic make sense to anybody?

I think you have to stick your head in a doorway and slam the door against your brain for a few hours for that statement to make sense.

Obviously you can only use the "I don't know anything about this candidate, but I'm voting for him/her anyway" in determining the president.

The same practice can't be used in selecting the Travis County Tax Assessor!

That is one crafty campaign strategy there, Mauro. Openly insult and berate the opposition's supporters, and then rely on identity politics to win the general? Fantastic. Great direction for the party.

You're making it more and more difficult for me not wince when I say that I'll support Clinton in November should she get the nom. Yeesh.

As for the record rain, it rained so much yesterday (Chorus: How much did it rain?) that the City Dump was closed on 3/11 because of flooding and ensuing mud roads in place of dirt roads. Remodelers were supposed to start today on the demo of a bathroom and passed on the word.

As for the number of ballots with Obama and no other votes, Gene Kelley, the perinial candidate for some state-wide office, almost got enough votes to force a run-off for the Democratic Senate spot. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/5596531.html But the comments by Mauro and other Clintonistas have made life easy for Political Cartoonists, Talking Heads, and others. Rush could barely contain himself talking about Obama being on the bottom.

Button up your overcoats, it's going to be a muddy fight.
