Austinist Presents Local Music is Sexy V at the PureVolume Ranch on March 8th

Local Music is Sexy V
Saturday, March 8
PureVolume Indoor (E 2nd and Trinity St)
10 p.m. – 4 a.m. | Complimentary Beverages
[info] | [RSVP]
Two days after SXSW kicks off and our city becomes a living, breathing conglomeration of people from all walks of life, Austinist presents Local Music is Sexy at the PureVolume Ranch. Past Local Music is Sexy events have showcased acts such as The Black Angels, Brothers and Sisters, The Lemurs, The Corto Maltese, Black Before Red, and IV Thieves to name a few. Last year, we remember dancing the night away to Car Stereo (Wars)’ mad mash-ups, drinking free Red Bull (among other things), and having a go at the sweet Wii set up in that little lounge at the location. All in all, an excellent time.

Local Music is Sexy V on March 8th brings another stellar line-up of local acts, some fast-emerging and some that have been rocking our town for many years and deserve the recognition their talents merit. Martin Crane’s Brazos will get things rolling with poignant indie-rock ditties before White Denim turns in another boisterous set of their garage rock’n'roll mayhem, no doubt. Following that assault, Sara Beck a-k-a Pink Nasty brings us her tales and melodies wrapped up in crisp guitar licks and accentuated by her versatile vocals. While Pink Nasty skillfully treads the fine line between folk and rock, the headlining act Zykos have expertly tinged indie-pop with southern strains since 2003. With two full-lengths (2003’s Comedy Horn and 2004’s Zykos) already under their belt, the outfit released the Keep It Light EP last year. The whole shindig should be a love-fest of sorts; the majority of the musicians that comprise the scheduled acts often work together on projects, sometimes even joining each other on stage as was the case at a January gig at Antone’s. Anticipate the unexpected!

So go on and save your Saturday night (and early Sunday hours) for this special party and come prepared for complimentary beverages while they last (21+ only!), but most importantly, be sure to RSVP.
