Designer Rene Geneva Pairs with EcoClean and Kendra Scott Jewelry for LA Fashion Week

Austin eco-friendly designer René Geneva will show her new clothing line on March 12 at the Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show in Los Angeles, during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The line is known as SOCA, an acronym for Sustainable Organic Contemporary Apparel, and is inspired by Japanese historical architecture.

Models in the show will sport jewelry from Austin designer Kendra Scott, whose work can be found at Austin stores Fetish and Eliza Paige, and local cleaner EcoClean will be on hand to talk about earth-friendly ways to wash all that earth-friendly clothing.

Geneva's clothing line includes bridal, eveningwear, and streetwear, and is composed of material such as hemp and organic wool. Whole Foods placed an order for Geneva's fashions after her show last year at LA Fashion Week, and beginning March 1 is carrying some of the designer's casual dresses and some organic clothing designed specifically for the organic retailer.

This season, Geneva has also teamed up with EcoClean non-toxic drycleaning and laundry to help educate consumers about the organic cleaning options for garments. EcoClean, located at 2915 Guadalupe, is run by Conrad Bejarano and John Dorgan, who also own Spider House, I Luv Video and new event space United States Art Authority. Rather than traditional dry cleaning, Geneva and EcoClean advocate a method they call "wet cleaning," which employs an environmentally-sound process that protects fabrics and leaves clothes with no chemical residue.

Geneva last showed her work in December at the Winter Enchantment show at the Enchanted Forest. The photos below show other looks for the collection displayed at Winter Enchantment.
