Salvage Vanguard Theater has announced its new season! When current AD Jason Neulander steps down in June, Associate AD Jenny Larson takes the helm as acting-AD. SVT will mount an all-new version of The Intergalactic Nemesis at the Paramount (directed by Neulander), premiere Jason Grote's Hamilton Township (directed by Larson), and foster the collaboration of the always fabulous Graham Reynolds and Shannon McCormick on Unbeaten, "a new work that explores the passion of good ol' American football." Eh? That's damned intriguing. Details and more at the SVT mother ship.
Want a good laugh? Rubber Repertory has started airing their dirty laundry in a new, recurring series called From the Dumpster, in which they confess to madcap ideas they seriously considered staging. If Rubber Rep turned it down, it's got to be good. The current installment is hysterical. (Snort! Snort! Snort! Snort! Snort! Snort!)
There's more than music to SXSW. This year, Human Giant, Eugene Mirman, Janeane Garofalo, and more will play the Super Deluxe party at Esther's; the Upright Citizen's Brigade (Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts, and Matt Besser) will turn out shows at the United States Art Authority [tix] and ColdTowne Theater [tix]; and Michael Showalter might be returning for SXSW-2008.
