Peacock to Showcase Green Fairy Tonight

Absinthe Soiree
Friday, February 22
The Peacock (515 Pedernales St)
No cover, 8-11pm, light French fare for those who are feeling, you know, a little snacky
[info]
If your heroes include absinthe guzzling artistic wack-jobs like Oscar Wilde, Toulouse Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh, get ready to party like it's 1899.

To celebrate the reintroduction of the provocative spirit absinthe to the good ol' US of A, the Peacock is hosting an Absinthe Soiree tonight from 8-11pm. Peacock bartender, Slim, will be preparing absinthe in the traditional way, with an absinthe fountain, a sugar cube, and a slotted spoon. Ooh la la!

In recognition of absinthe's French connection, transplant francais Olivier Giraud will be spinning French tunes, and light French fare will be on hand. In mouth. Whatever. Meanwhile, forget you're in a great big puritanical red state and vive la vie boheme!
