“And among the people whom I got to know, who became not only friends, but heroes, were Barbara Jordan, who taught me a lot about courage, and today would actually be her birthday. I remember all the time about how she got up every single morning, facing almost insurmountable odds, to do what she did. And another was my great friend Ann Richards, who taught me so much about determination. Ann was a great champion for the people of Texas. She also reminded us that every so often it is good to have a laugh about what it is we're engaged in.” -- Clinton
“Washington has become a place where good ideas go to die.” -- Obama
“It’s important for the United States not just to talk to its friends, but also to talk to its enemies. In fact, that's where diplomacy makes the biggest difference.” -- Obama

preemption and arrogance of the Bush administration is over.” -- Clinton
“If we think that meeting with the president is a privilege that has to be earned, I think that reinforces the sense that we stand above the rest of the world at this point in time.” -- Obama
“The wealthy and the well-connected have had a president the last seven years, and I think it's time that the rest of America had a president to work for you every single day.” -- Clinton

“We see what's been happening, with literally babies being left with no one to take care of them, children coming home from school, no responsible adult left… that is not the America that I know.” -- Clinton
“But, you know, John, there is -- there's a lot we've learned about technology and smart fencing.” -- Clinton
“I do not want two classes of citizens in this country.” -- Obama

“I have to confess, I was somewhat amused, the other night, when, on one of the TV shows, one of Senator Obama's supporters was asked to name one accomplishment of Senator Obama, and he couldn't.” -- Clinton
“Senator Clinton of late has said: Let's get real.
The implication is that the people who've been voting for me or involved in my campaign are somehow delusional. (Laughter)
And that, you know, the 20 million people who've been paying attention to 19 debates and the editorial boards all across the country at newspapers who have given me endorsements, including every major newspaper here in the state of Texas -- somehow, they're being duped!
And eventually they're going to see the reality of things!” -- Obama
“The notion that I had plagiarized from somebody who was one of my national co-chairs who gave me the line and suggested that I use it, I think, is silly, and, you know, this is where we start getting into silly season, in politics, and I think people start getting discouraged about it.” -- Obama

“Well, I think everybody here knows I've lived through some crises and some challenging moments in my life.” -- Clinton

SXSW 2010: Austinist's List Of Day Shows, Afterparties, and More

the dig at kirk watson was a major tactical error (on his own turf, no less, with a crowd that will acknowledge his dufusness and yet empathize) and paved the way for Obama to talk about his accomplishments....
both had good moments, but nasty works against her...that, and the superdelegate answer. and the xerox dig. but I LOVED the line about ending Bush's war against science!
Clinton did not actually answer half the questions given to her. Everything she said sounded like she had prepared it beforehand - barely any of it was relevant - and she was just looking for opportunities to drop these little speeches and deliver pre-formulated insults.
That is hardly the only reason, but I know who I'll be casting my vote for tomorrow morning at the FAC.
i was embarassed for hillary when she answered the question about her being the only one ready to be president on day one... with a loooong rant about health care.
her inability to answer the question posed to her numerous times was ridiculous. she proved she can't think on the fly... even when the questions are softballs being lobbed at her.
Wow. Did you people watch the same debate I did? Hillary was very strong and I'm now convinced the more qualified candidate.
Hillary was strong on health care - but went into health care when she was asked about unrelated items. So if you care most about health care and didn't care that she didn't really answer any other questions, she 'won'.
I'm with Obama, but her plan is still better, though. His, unlike hers, might stand a chance of getting enacted in the next few years and can eventually grow into hers, which is why I don't view it as a fatal flaw.
