Cine Las Americas fundraiser: CHICHA 56

If you love booze and cinema, well, have we got a deal for you. Cine Las Americas, Austin's own multicultural, non-profit media arts center, will be holding Chicha 56, a combo happy hour and after party fundraiser to benefit this year's programming. The event comes a mere 56 days before the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival kicks off.

The happy hour will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with celebrity bartenders David Rice and Eugenio del Bosque; all tips will benefit Cine Las Americas. Those who manage to make it to the shindig by 5:30 p.m. will be able to register for a chance to win a free pass to the festival, now in its 11th year. The after party, with special musical guests KANKO begins at 8:30 p.m. The fundraiser should provide a solid opportunity to do good, take in some culture and throw back a few cocktails all at once.

The Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will run April 16-20, 2008. The schedule of films to be screened will be posted by late March.
