Eat for a Cause Tonight at Aster's
If you haven’t headed over to Aster’s Ethiopian Restaurant, a small, vivid gem set on the tarnished strip of I-35 just north of Dean Keeton, think of this as an opportunity with your name on it. The hospitable folks at Aster’s are designating a night of sales to their longtime friend Lawrence Eguakun of World Beat Café notoriety, who was diagnosed with cancer one year ago and has been undergoing intensive treatment since.
The benefit begins tonight at 6pm, with live reggae by Vida Deluxe, African drumming by Lannaya, and beats from KAZI 88.7 FM’s DJ-RJ. Aster’s regular menu will be in effect, including tender, sweet & spicy lamb stew (keyi begg wott), the delightfully spongy and satisfying injera bread which stands in for utensils, and too many scrumptious vegetarian dishes to choose just one (fortunately, there’s a combination plate option- so you can have your lentils and your cabbage too).
Since Aster’s is pretty cozy in size, an RSVP is suggested, either by calling 512-560-9244 or be sending an email. Can’t make the event but still want to give? Send monetary donations directly to Lawrence Eguakun at 17105 Village Glen Road, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
