Make your way to the Continental Club for alt-country and folk sweetness tinged with pop harmonies courtesy of Li’l Cap’n Travis and Brothers and Sisters. Elsewhere, La Snacks and Transmography engage the audience at the intimate Beauty Bar stage.
The most interestingly titled Vegan Arm Wrestling takes place at The Parlor with music from The Teeners and Sex Advice and plenty of quality, vegan pizza from the North Loop joint. The Art On Deck benefit show for Austin EcoSchool at United States Art Authority (510 W. 29th St.) features some choice acts as well -- Blackholicus, The Golden Boys and Opposite Day all entertain at this special event. The opening reception is set for 6 p.m. with DJ Chicken George at the helm before the bands take over at 9 p.m.
Arguably the most fun this weekend is to be had at Club de Ville where Misprint Magazine presents its 2nd Annual Beard & Moustache Competition with the apocalyptic drone of Horse + Donkey along with DJ Andy (The Mouth) providing the soundtrack. Misprint inspires us all monthly quarterly whenever they release one of their absolutely hilarious issues and we must give back with our facial hair if that’s what they want. Contestants are requested to register between 9 and 10 p.m. and there will be celebrity judges on hand to evaluate whiskers, fuzz, and what not. All entrants receive some sorta prize while winners receive better prizes from entities such as Birds Barbershop and ColdTowne Theater.

Car Stereo (Wars) brings us his 2nd Annual Valentine Prom Extravaganza! at Beauty Bar on Saturday. Til We're Blue Or Destroy, taking on the mantle of house band for this evening in the form of the legendary Marvin Berry & the Starlighters, will play assorted covers. They might even roll up in a limo! A Prom King and Queen are set to be crowned as well and Nash Cook will be on hand on document the nostalgia. It's your density to check it out!
Emo’s features the garage rockabilly of The Jungle Rockers inside on Saturday, with Mr. Lewis & The Funeral 5 and Kanko rounding off this diverse line-up, while the Lounge sees mouse.about churn out their unique blend of rock, jazz, and pop.
Also on Saturday, you can enjoy A Night Of Experimental Music featuring Werewolf Jerusalem and Total Abuse at The Broken Neck (4701B Red Bluff). Clementine Coffee Bar is home to Listener Project and Hollywood Gossip (presented by Party Ends!) while Elysium hosts German electro in the form of De/Vision.
Other shows worth checking out on Saturday include Afrofreque at Lambert’s, Will Johnson (of Centro-matic) and {{{ Sunset }}} (Bill Baird’s new project) at The Mohawk, and Black Joe Lewis at the Hole In The Wall.
