Austinist Show Preview: Til We’re Blue Or Destroy + more @ Antone's

In keeping with its aim of promoting exceptional artists to the unsuspecting masses, or “starting fires”, SureFire Media + Promotion presents an exciting line-up of local talent this Thursday at Antone’s. SureFire takes on responsibilities such as booking, publicity, and marketing for Austin acts with The Soldier Thread and The Mercers being just two of the bands on its roster. The Antone’s showcases are meant to bring a new set of local bands to the legendary venue -- according to SureFire’s Director of Media Relations, Stephen Tatton, “Antone's is really an Austin landmark, and I think that if we can do something there that helps everyone involved, then we've done our part.”

Switchburn joins the party to document the shenanigans -- its crew has been making the rounds at various venues of late, most recently filming She, Sir and {{{ SUNSET }}} last week at The Parish. The Switchburn website currently boasts clips from many recent shows in town, including Dan Deacon at Emo’s Inside and Built By Snow at Emo’s Lounge

As for news on the bands, Til We’re Blue Or Destroy hope to release their full-length The Train soon (currently only available off the band’s MySpace via Snocap) and Amy Mitchell (vocals and keyboard) adds that this is the first time the band is venturing west of Congress Ave. for a gig. That surely is The SureFire Effect! The Carrots play their first gig since drummer Chef’s operation during Christmas to repair his arm. The band will have a series of 7" singles ready for the masses in upcoming months.

The Laughing’s work on their new EP Jungle is nearly finished and the band, now sans their identical white vests depicting Svan the tiger, expects to have a release date shortly. Many Birthdays released their Days of Beat/Days of Hollow EP last November through iTunes.
