ACL Fest: Save $20 On Tickets Right...Now

ACL Festival 2008
September 26-28, 2008
Zilker Park Rock Gardens (2100 Barton Springs Road)
$150/3-Day Pass

Looks like ACL Fest organizers have chosen Groundhog Day to release their mildly discounted multi-passes. 3-day passes priced at $150 including service charges are on sale now at ACLFest.com.

Last year, the discount tickets sold out in less than 12 hours, so Austinist advises that if you're interested, head over there now and grab them. Prices will move to $170 per pass once this initial allotment sells out.

It's far too early for any lineup details, which are usually announced in April or May. Big name touring artists this summer include Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Tom Petty, R.E.M., Kanye West, and Coldplay. All but Radiohead and West have played the ACL mainstage in the past, so a return visit from one of them is certainly possible. Petty is the least likely of the above names, as he's already scheduled a late August date in San Antonio. 2007 festival highlights included The Arcade Fire, Bjork, and Muse.

I'm totally willing to pay $50 a day without knowing the bands. I've been every year and every year it's a blast and every year I've seen amazing shows. I doubt September is going to come around, they release the artists performing, and I'll regret that I bought tickets.

People bitch so much about ACL and SXSW being so expensive. They're not designed to be charitable acts of musical goodness.

  • YoYoMa

$145 last year to $170 this year is a 17% increase. The discounted tickets were 25% more this year. That is all.

  • JohnM

Fuck this, they're just taking advantage of us. The people who would actually need discounted tickets probably can't afford just to throw down $150 without knowing any of the acts playing. I say it's fair to release tickets when they release the line-up - they're going to sell out anyways, so why exploit us?
