Dear reader, we’re sure you’ll agree that it’s been too long since we’ve heard from our favorite Bear Den/music venue, The Chain Drive, up there on Willow Street.

And this week, indie rock and hairy, shirtless men collide once again. On Wednesday The Seas, along with Druggist and Matt Hoggle will be performing, and on Thursday, New Hampshire’s Nicky Click is stopping by, joined by locals The Hot As Shits. Two very different shows, one great venue.

Wednesday will range from the sweet country balladry of acoustic singer/songwriter Matt Hoggle to the big and brash sounds of San Antonio’s Druggist. Somewhere in the middle of those two acts sit The Seas, an act that juggles falsetto electro-pop (see “Little Girl”) as well as jittery feedback-laden rock'n'roll as on the (presumable) ode to the Os Mutantes singer "Rita Lee" on a song of the same name.

For all of Wednesday's full-on rock fun, Thursday is the night where things should get nasty. The Hot As Shits will implore you to “Buy Me Things” and wax philosophical about “Hot Bitches” during their sure-to-be sweaty opening set, rocking like Kathleen Hanna and before she got all dance. Visiting us as part of her huge tour, headliner Nicky Click should have a built-in audience of Austin girls and boys who love that dirty, gender-bending electro-clash that fans of Peaches, and Gravy Train!!! eat up like so many confectionery amphetamines. Her second album I’m on My Cell Phone on Crunks Not Dead records (really?) hit streets mid-November, and while she’s dropping science like “You Don’t Gotta Pay For Love” and solidifying her reputation as a “Fuck Machine,” do not, DO NOT call her "baby."
