Whole Foods, National Instruments Remain Among Fortune's Best Companies to Work For
Two Austin-based companies -- Whole Foods Market and National Instruments -- once again found themselves on Fortune magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For this year.
Whole Foods has made the list 11 years in a row and is one of only 14 companies to be included every year since the list's inception. National Instruments has made the list for nine straight years.
Whole Foods ranked No. 16 because, according to the magazine, the "beloved natural and organic foods retailer opened a record 21 new stores in 2007, and also acquired Wild Oats in a $565 million deal." The company's 11 percent job growth also helped propel it into the top 20.
National Instruments ranked No. 79 based on its 3 percent grown and $660 million in revenue.
The annual survey polls employees from companies nationwide about the quality of their corporate cultures. Seventeen Texas companies made this year's list.
