Austinist Show Preview: Don't Tread On Me at Red 7

So you’ve just moved closer to downtown to be near your institution of employment or what have you. The five minute drive to work in the morning is priceless but damn that late night rock music coming from the bars in the vicinity. Or maybe you've always lived there and you've always found the nightly din a bit much. Well, you’re going to have fight (not literally we hope) the artistic community and the related downtown service industry that thrives on Red River St. (and the adjoining areas) for your voice to be heard.

The Don’t Tread On Me show this Friday at Red 7 aims to protest the sound ordinance amendment proposal intended to decrease the current 85 decibel limit down to 75 dB. Naturally, there are pros and cons to either argument, and we’d love to hear your views in the comments section! The everlasting battle between "If it’s too loud, you’re too old" and "If it’s too loud, turn it down" continues.

As for the show itself, it should definitely be more Metallica than Damn Yankees, with an onslaught of loud music to be expected. The Stones We Throw supply noisy garage rock to mark the evening while Rend provides deafening metal riffs to honor the event. Full throttle live rock n' roll from the likes of The Bread, Like Dogs, and The Anchor rounds off the raucous entertainment on tap.
