This Week in Theatre: Festival Frenzy

Though Frontera Fest's Short Fringe opened a week ago, the Long Fringe kicked into gear just yesterday. Full details here, but we've picked a few gems for this week.

First, though, let's talk about another festival, running this weekend only. The third annual see.hear.speak fest opens on Thursday and closes on Saturday, with shows nightly at 8 & 10 at Coldtowne Theater. Bringing a few big-name comedy groups to town, this year's fest has quite the lineup. Thursday is "see"—all performances incorporate some element of video. Friday brings you "hear," where you'll get comedy and music. Finally, Saturday rounds it all out with "speak," featuring solo showcases. Tickets online. Stay tuned for interviews and full coverage!

As for the longer shows running courtesy of Frontera, while it all looks interesting, we're particularly piqued by a couple starting their run this week:

  • Luna Tart Died (of a broken heart) sees the return of Laura Freeman's ukulele-playing, scotch-swilling heroine. The intensely talented Freeman never disappoints. Weds @ 9:15pm, Fri @ 7:00pm, Sat @ 10:30pm
  • Never mind that the poster for i google myself features a mostly-nude man, we're just excited whenever the folks behind Capital T Theatre get themselves up to something. This time, it's "the unusual story" of "a lonely stalker, a gay porn star, and a stoner mechanic...brought together by an internet search engine." Fri @ 10:45pm, Sun @ 4:15pm

Both shows at the Blue Theatre; tickets available online
