For those less familiar, Mamet's work includes the classic plays Glengarry Glen Ross, American Buffalo, Oleanna, and Speed-The-Plow. He has also written and directed a number of films including The Spanish Prisoner, Heist, State and Main, and House Of Games. Mamet also wrote the screenplays for The Untouchables, Wag The Dog, Hoffa, and The Verdict. Mamet has a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award on his shelf, and is undoubtedly one of the signature voices of his era.
Tickets to the lecture are free and are now available at both the front desk of the LBJ Library (2313 Red River) and at the UT Student Union Ticket Office (on campus) while supplies last. Events such as this one and the recent on-campus appearance by Francis Ford Coppola are one of the reasons it's great to live in a college town, so anyone who loves theatre or film should drop what they're doing and grab tickets for this enlightening event. And while you wait, those not at work can click on the YouTube link after the jump for an obscenity montage from Mamet's classic film version of Glengarry Glen Ross.
