News Bits - Happy MLK Day!
- Presidential Primaries: Hillary and Mitt Romney take Nevada, McCain takes South Carolina.
- New study claims that cell phone radiation "causes people to take longer to reach the deeper stages of sleep and to spend less time in them" and interferes with the human body's "ability to repair damage suffered during the day."
- Last Thursday, the Pennsylvania state government repealed a law that prohibited dairy farmers from revealing whether or not their milk comes from hormone-enhanced cows. Now this information can (notice the keyword here; it's not "must") come on the carton on the label. Other states may soon follow suit.
- Google Research: Very soon, the Silicon Valley giant will to make a vast quantity of open-source scientific research data available to the public at "http://research.google.com."
- Major live music companies are building a presence in China.
- Villa Muse, the behemoth studio city project going up 15 miles east of downtown Austin, is requesting that the City of Austin release 1,900 acres of its extra territorial jurisdiction. In other words, as Villa Muse grows in physical acreage, the project's investors are becoming more and more concerned with property tax and zoning control issues with the City.
