Theatre News Bits
- Dame Edna had to cancel her entire North American tour due to complications from appendix surgery. Said the Dame in a letter to her loyal Austin fans, "Texas is no country for sick Megastars, so I will see you in November 7-9, 2008 [at the Paramount], possums."
- A tidbit from the Great White Way: During the preview of November (the new Nathan Lane vehicle), the character played by Laurie Metcalf spent a lot of time prominently displaying her cloth Whole Foods bag. Way to place product, John Mackey!
- The Erwin Center is begging you, pleeeeeeease, to pick up your Hannah Montana will-call tickets ahead of time. Something about 16,775 antsy tweens & their parents clamoring for tickets makes the good folks at the Drum a tad nervous.
- More from the Drum: The touring play Where’s Papa Ray’s Money?—which featured, among others, Deelishis—has been canceled.
- On the Frontera front: If there're still tickets (doubtful), Saturday's Best of Week includes a little after-soirée. Party-goers will enjoy treats from Pink Avocado Catering, elbow-rubbing with Frontera muckety mucks, and of course drinkies. Oh, and tickets are online this year. Spiffy!
