Previews for a number of solid shows elsewhere on the site but there are a few other noteworthy gigs in town this weekend. Lambert’s location evokes memories of Liberty Lunch (R.I.P.) nights and the barbeque joint is doing its best to provide quality music to the 2nd St. District after dark. Set up a date with your special partner this Friday for the "Oak Smoked" Maple & Coriander Crusted Country Style Pork Ribs or the "Wood Grilled" Wild Tasmanian Salmon. Follow up your meal with the spastic electro-experimentation of Cry Blood Apache as well as the haunting drone of Horse + Donkey and the garage psychedelia of The Toko-Ri Get High Band.
We queried Cry Blood Apache about their list of releases and learnt that the band's discography includes a full-length titled Performing Diversion Acrobatics along with "a tape EP" and "an industry mixtape released during last SxSW." We’re not sure how they may sound on recordings or how they come up with some of their outlandish concoctions, but the act’s live show is as entertaining as it is intriguing, and we encourage this dinner + show date. Grub it all up.
Emo’s Lounge hosts a tribute to Black Sabbath (presented by The Paul Green School of Rock Music) early on Friday and Saturday, while the White Ghost Shivers’ vaudeville variety takes over the same venue later in the evening on Friday.
Count Dracula’s Weed Smugglin’ Jam Engine and Pataphysics entertain at the Scoot Inn following Okay Mountain’s Gold Rush reception at their Gallery.
The best of the rest for Friday evening includes Manejo Beto at the Beauty Bar, Pong at Room 710, Information Society at Elysium, and Amplified Heat at Trophy’s.
If folk, garage, and psychedelic rumblings inspired by past decades are your fancy, there are two stellar line-ups that cater to you on Saturday evening -- Brothers and Sisters, The Strange Attractors, and The Golden Boys at The Parish, and Experimental Aircraft and Red Monroe at Stubb’s.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s Les Savy Fav showcase material off their impressive Let’s Stay Friends record on Emo’s outside stage while local Americana act The Band Of Heathens celebrate the release of their Live at Antone’s DVD/CD combo at Momo’s. Trophy's is home to the swagger, riffs, and melodies of The Dirty Hearts and mrandmrsmays.
Or you can choose from Alejandro Escovedo’s poignant lyricism at Cactus Cafe, SuperHeavyGoatAss’ thunderous rock at Room 710, and Johnny Hootrock’s pyschobilly stylings at Beerland to round off this weekend’s entertainment.

Foot Patrol, Movin' Melvin Brown, and a drums-and-tuba set by Thor (Shearwater, Smog/Bill Callahan, etc.) and Adam (Yellow Fever) at the White Swan Lounge (1906 E. 12th St.) on Saturday, January 19. Doors at 9pm, show 10pm, $6 cover, BYOB!
