ANOTHER Garage-Punk Fest at Beerland, Emo's
Didn't Beerland already have Ground Zero Fest like three weeks ago? Didn't half these bands play Emo's Free Week? Well, you can't have too much of a good thing: in what promises to be another all-night blowout, Beerland and Emo's are co-hosting Megon Fest, featuring Austin garage-punk stalwarts Manikin, The Young, The Hex Dispensers, and nihilistic Latin punks Deskonocidos, with out-of-towners headlining each night. Friday at Beerland brings us an '80s garage band from Chicago that the bearded record collector guy in your office is probably obsessed with, MOTO a.k.a. Masters of the Obvious; Saturday at Emo's features Portland's mega-crusties Criminal Damage. But honestly, you're going for the local talent: Manikin's moody basement party jams alone should be worth Friday's cover, and Deskonocido's punk en espanol onslaught promises to be revelatory. Night 1 at Beerland is 21+; Night 2 at Emo's, all-ages.
