Austinist Show Preview: Dan Deacon Returns to Emo's

We told you last time, and, thank god, you listened. We told you Dan Deacon was coming, and you were ready. Well, we're telling you again.

Last June, Deacon wooed us with his loud, noisy electronic mixing, his acid stories of getting lost looking for the Austin public library, and outrageous table-top mixer setup. We felt like we were at summer camp: suddenly, we were friends with the random dude next to us, and we not only shared song sheets but also souls. We formed a dance ring and took turns in the middle, we sang in unison to songs we barely knew, and we loved it.

Experience tells us that we should show up tonight to Deacon's first Austin show of 2008, ready to be disarmed, ready to dance, ready to let loose. And while there's no new album out (yet), Deacon is promising a few new tracks for you fans. Also, he'll be performing with Ultimate Reality, which is actually a shared project between Deacon and Jimmy Joe Roche and is described as "an intense musical composition for electronics and drums with a psychedelic montage of Arnold Schwarzenegger films." Srsly? That sounds totally random and awesome. We simply see this as an opportunity for you to partake in the particular brand of mysticism that is Dan Deacon. Opening the evening are When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth, local happy hardcore rockers. Follow the jump to fill out the contest form! See you there.
