A 25-year-old Tyler man is being accused of murdering, mutilating and sautéing his 21-year-old girlfriend this past Friday. Christopher Lee McCuin told police that God instructed him to kill Jana Shearer.
Smith County Sheriff Deputies believe the horror started Friday evening when McCuin forced Shearer from her home. Following Shearer's abduction, he drove to another house and stabbed his estranged wife’s boyfriend. Then, after murdering Ms. Shearer, McCuin called his mother and her boyfriend into the garage the next morning to “come see what he had done.” He called 911 after his mother and her boyfriend fled the home. When police arrived, they found Shearer’s mutilated body and cooking body parts, including an ear boiling in a pot on the stove and a plate full of flesh at the kitchen table.
Authorities are unclear whether McCuin actually consumed any of Shearer’s body. He appeared in court on Monday but was not asked to enter a plea as he stood before the judge. McCuin is charged with capital murder and remains in custody on $2M bond.
