- Having won the Iowa Democratic Primary, U.S. Presidential candidate Barack Obama appears to be rocking and rolling with new momentum. The latest numbers show Obama leading the pack in the New Hampshire Democratic Primary, with Hillary Clinton lagging in second place by a 10 point gap. What's going on here? - Despite Bush's stated plans to scale down America's unofficial terrorist detention centers across the globe, the "secret" U.S. prison in Afghanistan is evidently now exceeding its inmate capacity. The prison currently holds approximately 630 prisoners - over twice the number held at the other famous U.S. secret detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Additionally, the Red Cross is raising complaints of prisoner mistreatment.
- Today, the U.S. Supreme Court will begin a major case on the death penalty. At issue is the question of whether lethal injections used throughout America to execute convicted criminals are a form of "cruel and unusual punishment" and therefore unconstitutional. It's kind of a big deal and stuff.
- Construction on MLK starts today between Lamar and Pearl. The project - which involves a complete reconstruction of the street - will severely impede traffic in the area and take about 10 months to complete. Beware.
- Patients willing to experiment are turning to China for stem cell treatments.
- Search Wikia, the new open-source search engine, has launched.
- Natasha Lyonne is still around and about to appear in a new Mike Leigh play.
