Austinist Weekend Music Preview: Ready Steady Go! & Groundwork Music Orchestra Hour

This weekend has to be dominated by the various Emo’s Free Week shows -- look for previews to those events on the site.

Rock-A-Round Entertainment stages its latest Ready Steady Go! shindig at Beerland this Friday with a screening of Scott Conn’s Dirt Road To Psychedelia (Trailer). The evening is dedicated to the 13th Floor Elevators with a musical tribute by Acid Tomb (members of The Alice Rose and The Jungle Rockers). If that wasn't enough, there will be further entertainment courtesy of the Ready Steady Go-Go’s, plus a couple of DJs on hand, namely Mike Hooker and Shorty Stump, spinning "classic tunes."

Also on tap for Friday evening: Low Line Caller, Flat People, and Doug Burr condense I-35’s widespread talent into Stubb’s whereas BettySoo serenades the citizens at Cedar Street.

Follow the jump for a preview of Saturday's fun events!

On Saturday, the Groundwork Music Project continues with its diligent goal of providing music education to kids of all ages at Ruta Maya. The Groundwork Music Orchestra enliven the happenings again at the South Congress coffee shop tomorrow afternoon. The show starts at 4 p.m. with all proceeds going to music classes at the Open Door Preschool.

Later in the evening, make your way to Antone’s for country-punk fervor courtesy of Hank III or kick back with the rockabilly stylings of the Flametrick Subs and The Jungle Rockers at Beerland. Hit By A Car brings metal mayhem to Headhunters while Major Major celebrate their CD release at Stubb’s with support coming in the form of Muchos Backflips’ spastic sounds.

Most of all, drive safe!
