Free Week hits its stride on Saturday with three separate shows at Emo’s Lounge, Emo’s inside stage, and the outside stage as well.
Inside it will be something of a powerpop/punk homecoming, with local favorites Cruiserweight headlining and all-girl spunky Applicators lending support. Also playing are the Moog-lovers Masonic, who have cycled through a few lead singers before releasing their fourth album Things I Am Guilty Of. The relatively newer Little Bicycles will also perform, as will old school punk throwbacks the Anchor.
The outside stage will feature what could be described as roots-rock indie, with mainstays Zykos performing with the buzzy Brazos and three-piece Lalaland who have been experimenting with “power rock” since their 2004 release Ready? Ready! The Strange Boys are set to headline with a set of noisy R&B-fused folk, and The Crack Pipes, as always, should deliver some severe noise.
Emo’s Lounge takes an eclectic approach to Saturday evening with sets by cut-and-paste DJ Car Stereo (Wars), indie-riffic La Snacks, The Bronze Age (formerly Quiet, Lovely) and the much talked about pop experimentalism of the enthusiastic Moth!Fight! The show is sponsored by the hype magnates at Party Ends, hopefully meaning they’ll have some free snacks, drinks, or prizes (hint, hint).

I believe it's actually just gonna be Kevin A. from Moth!Fight!, not the entire band. Oh, well.
Yep, Moth!Fight! canceled today. Their MySpace bulletin:
Due to some untimely events, we had to cancel our scheduled appearance tonight at Emo's in Austin. However, Mothfighters Kevin, Jess, and Marcus will be performing for FREE, with Car (Stereo) Wars, La Snacks, and other great bands! We'll try and schedule a free show in Austin in the coming months to compensate for this cancellation and are truly sorry about it!
Love,
Moth!Fight!
Thanks for the heads-up, you two.
