Benefit for Austin Musician (and Last-Minute Shopping Chance!) Tonight

Benefit for Chris Neale
Thursday, December 20
Moxie and the Compound (909 W Mary St)
Free, 6-10pm
[info]
Nothing warms our hearts like seeing fellow Austinites coming together to assist a friend or stranger in need—it's especially awesome to see this happening around the holidays, amidst frenzied travel plans and dinner preparations.

Tonight's your perfect chance to help out one of our own: local uninsured musician Chris Neale faces staggering medical bills after undergoing an emergency operation to remove a ten-pound tumor from his stomach back in October. To help offset some of this financial burden, friend of Austinist Marisa Wall has organized a stellar fundraiser taking place at Moxie and the Compound this evening, with support from a bevy of local businesses.

From 6 to 10 p.m., you can bid on original art created specifically for this benefit (think: "Baberaham Lincoln Lactates a Log Cabin"), as well as a selection of gift certificates (Uchi, Hotel San Jose, the Belmont, KGSR, Kerbey Lane, Adelante Boutique), massage packages, and more. DJs Orion and Andy (The Mouth) will spin dance-friendly tunes, and all proceeds go directly to helping Neale out.

It's too late now, but in the future it would really help if yall would list these type events in the IST-list.
