Duncanville Outlaws Residential Swingers Club

Dull Duncanville, which averages one place of worship for every 720 of its residents, is home to Jim Trulock’s swingers club The Cherry Pit. On most Friday and Saturday nights, Cherry Pit owner Jim Trulock and his partner Julie host up to 100 people in their home to - how do we say - exercise their Constitutional Right to Privacy. Until recently, the activities that took place in their home were not illegal.

Last month, Duncanville City Council voted unanimously to outlaw sex clubs in residential areas after years of complaints from Trulock’s neighbors claiming noise, traffic and parking problems. In an appeal filed Wednesday, The Cherry Pit is claiming that the ruling is unconstitutional. Citing the 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision Lawrence v. Texas, attorneys for The Cherry Pit said their case is justified because the city has “no constitutionally acceptable reason” for the ban. In a double blow (tee hee) to Trulock’s crusade, Dallas County Judge King Fifer denied Trulock’s request for a temporary restraining order prohibiting enforcement of the ordinance and has already cited Trulock for violations that carry a fine up to $2,000 each.

Based on a lengthy Google investigative search, Austinist has learned that Trulock’s battle with the city runs long and deep (tee hee) but supporters are defiant. Dawn Burton, a frequent attendee of the parties, has expressed frustration with the city trying “to force their morality down our throats” (ahem!) and the Cherry Pit’s website vows to “fight for their right to party.” We're guessing that Trulock and his crew are about to take their legist little blue pill and are erecting (tee hee) a plan for the next chapter in this hot and steamy story.
