Austinist Show Preview: The Golden Boys, The Teeners

Sick to death of unleashing that inner crazed, gritty, noisy, pure, roll-around-on-your-belly-on-the-dirty-floor rock and roller only on the weekends? Ready to start that party on say... a Tuesday? Then, you’re in luck my fine garage rock friend. Locals The Golden Boys and The Teeners are going to fill the inside of Emo’s with a very unrefined base rock sound that is moving and uncompromising.

The Golden Boys, who’s latest album is Whiskey Flower out on Hook Or Crook, have a 60s pysch rock sound that really comes bleeding through during the guitar solos and when they throw in the keys and a little tambourine. The Teeners are a little more rushed and rough with a frantic and distorted garage/punk tone. What could you expect from a band with a singer/screamer that goes by the moniker Johnny Vomitnoise? Zest of Yore will open the show with a more melodic version of the rock that will cause you to writhe around on the floor later. And if that fun-loving rowdiness doesn’t exist within you, then just fake it.
