Here's something you might not know about us: Our hands-down favorite play by the old Bard has always been Hamlet. With that in mind, we expected to be at least a bit annoyed by Refraction Arts' irreverent re-imagining of one of Shakespeare's greatest works. But we weren't.

As a matter of fact, immediately upon first viewing we deemed it one of the best productions of 2006. The Assumption is funny hysterical, moving made us weep, and goofy utterly ridiculous. Based very loosely on the Danish prince's tale of woe, it's got singing and dancing. It's got the most intense Ophelia death scene on record. It's got all the white trash you could ever want, all on one funky stage. You won't ever see anything like it anywhere else, and if you miss one of its encore performances, you'll be sorry.

But hey, how about going for free? Gratis? On us and the good folks at Refraction Arts? They slid a couple of tickets under the table, and we're passing them along to you. Congratulations to our winners!
